Hello and welcome to our home. Beneath The International House of FanFic is a veritable warren filled with fiction to relish. We invite you to drop down the rabbit hole with us where tunnels lead to a recently completed gem, treasured classics, a good book to discover, and three enticing WIPs.
Consider the following:
What if Bella didn’t utter those famous words, “I know what you are”?
What if Edward upped and left without any explanation?
What if it wasn’t as if he’d never existed?
These questions and more are answered in the NM alternative, Rabbit Hole by profmom72.
We all know the most important rule for Vampires – keep the secret. Think on this: What if Bella decided she deserved to know the truth and went investigating? What if she shared her findings openly on Bella’s Bloodsucking Blog? Eh…not such a good idea, Bella. The human girl’s way of coping with the supernatural elements in her life dropped her down the rabbit hole where the maze of tunnels led her further into danger.
Now the question is: What does Edward do? Become trapped down there with her, or manage to pull her out?
Summary: Edward leaves Bella before revealing the Cullens are vampires. Bella’s curiosity gets the best of her, and she spends years chasing her suspicions, drawing attention from dangerous sources. Can Bella be saved from the Rabbit Hole she’s fallen into? AU – Drama/Angst – Rated: M – Edward & Bella – Complete
After so enjoying the re-read of Rabbit Hole, even with a busload of new fic waiting to be read, this FicSister took off down memory lane with a stroll through other old favourites by the talented profmom72. Let’s take a quick look at these two beauties…
In Transit is co-written with the incredible, Lillybellis.
This is a sweet novella where Edward and Bella, regular fellow passengers on a bus, make assumptions, quite wrongly, about the other before taking a turn neither of them expected. In its own heart-warming, non-preachy way, while mixing fluff with a little heavy, this tale reminded me never to judge a book by its cover, to learn from my mistakes, and that graciously accepting support can be a good thing for all.
Told in alternating viewpoints, all the better to tenderly show the true nature of these lovely characters and the emotional journey they take while in transit.
Summary: Riding the same bus every day, Edward and Bella get off to a bumpy start. She thinks he’s stuck-up; he thinks she’s shallow. Sometimes what seems like the wrong thing turns out to be exactly what you were waiting for. Romance-Drama – Rated: M – Edward & Bella – Complete
Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a collaboration with the amazing, hmonster4.
Edward spies yellow-wellie-wearing Bella as she gazes into Tiffany’s window on Fifth Avenue, NYC – her happy place. So used to women who had fat sucked out and botulism put back in, Edward saw the quirky woman and instantly knew he had found it – his happy place!
Again, told in alternating POV, Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a gorgeous, sweet romance sure to put a smile on your face. Having said that, it’s not all robin egg coloured boxes and rainbows. Edward and Bella are flawed characters who both grow and learn as they are exposed to how the other half live, and adjust to the realities of that life. Complicated families, ex-lovers, old and new friendships, and the pain-in-the-ass paparazzi, serve to keep their lives interesting…to say the least.
Summary: Edward admires Bella from afar, until a chance meeting convinces him to send her messages in the Tiffany’s window. Can their two worlds merge beyond the grand gesture? Romance – Rated: M – Edward & Bella – Complete
One corrupt city.
What could possibly go wrong?
Agent Bella Swan is fed up with Gotham being overrun by criminals. And since she has her very own collection of villains at her disposal, why not let them cause a little mayhem and maybe end up dead in the process?
No skin off her nose.
Bella’s tough as nails, but there’s one deadly assassin who just might be able to get under her skin.
Edward Cullen started to laugh. “I only thought you were hot, sweetheart. Look at the crafty girl scaring the big bads. You’re going to be a lot of fun.”
Bella went over to him and stared into his eyes. “This is a mission, Mr. Cullen. You will do your job if you want your freedom.”
“I can’t wait to be buried inside you, baby,” Edward said. He licked his lips. “I bet you’re tight.”
So, um… *ahem* Where were we? Oh, right.
Then we have Alice: certifiable and wicked fun to read. The way staceleo has crafted this character will blow your mind. She’s lucid one second and completely off her rocker the next. So. Much. Fun.
“You know when I first met Jasper, I thought I could fix him.”
Bella went to sit next to Alice on the bed. “I imagine you thought you could.”
“He just sucked me in, and I followed by sucking him off. A few whispered words of destruction and ruining me made me get on my knees in front of him. It was all licking and getting off after that.” She shook her head. “I gave everything up for him. Did you know he wears scalps as jaunty chapeaus? It’s adorable!”
I don’t even have words for that brilliance.
The Squad is inspired by Suicide Squad, and the Twilight characters we know and love have slipped easily into the roles of some of Gotham’s most depraved citizens.
Even if you’re not familiar with DC Comics at all, trust me… You will not want to miss this ride.
Summary: There comes a time to fight evil with evil. Agent Bella Swan took a risk to destroy the blight corrupting her city. She didn’t expect that the actual danger would be to her heart in the guise of a handsome assassin. A Suicide Squad inspired fic. Rated: M – Horror/Romance – Alice/Bella/Edward/Jasper – WIP
It’s no secret I’m a big fan of Melanie Moreland. I loved her first book, Into the Storm, and her second novel, Beneath the Scars, was one of my favourite reads of 2014. That’s why I was so happy to receive an ARC for Over the Fence, a story I’d enjoyed immensely when she posted it online. I have to admit that when it arrived I did nothing else but read for a couple of days.
Over the Fence is told from the viewpoint of Nathan, a computer expert, and tells the story of his new neighbor, Kourtney, who moves in to the house next door. The two form an unconventional friendship over the fence between their yards, swapping first food and then confidences, all the while not knowing what the other looks like. Of course, they become closer, enough that Nat is desperate to get to know more about the accomplished ‘chefgirl’ next door. And when they finally meet face-to-face, they both discover that beauty doesn’t only run skin deep.
Witty and heartwarming, Over the Fence is a perfect love story to curl up with. Neither character is perfect, and they both have their own crosses to bear, but we see them grow and develop as the story continues. Kourtney becomes braver, and Nat thaws out to become the strong man that she needs, supporting her at her weakest moments.
The thing I love best about the story is the way the two of them seem so natural together. From the start there’s a spark between them, heightened by the fact they can’t see each other, and whether they’re talking, emailing or texting, there’s humor and warmth throughout their interactions, as well as an attraction that’s plain to see.
While I’m talking about their conversations, I should tell you that just like in the movies you should stay until the end of the credits, because the Epilogue is one of the most enjoyable I’ve read. It put a smile on my face that lasted long after I’d finished the book, and even now I’m still grinning thinking about it.
Over the Fence was a five-star read for me, and has confirmed Melanie Moreland as one of my go-to authors. She never fails to entertain the reader, and for me that’s the highest praise of all!

Summary: Typical formula: boy meets girl. Boy befriends girl. Boy falls in love with girl. Girl has no idea. Boy is afraid to tell her, because Boy – me, Edward Cullen – has been pretending to be gay to keep Girl’s man-hating self in his life. AH – Rated: M – Romance/Humor – Complete
Summary: Having to maintain the family tradition, Bella starts her two year requirement at the prestigious CV Academy. To the outside world CVA seemed like a socialite high school where students ended up becoming governors, senators, CEOs, lawyers, and doctors, but the students knew there was more to the school then that. Rated: M – Romance/Drama – Bella & Edward – Drabble WIP
MsRedBoots ~ Coming Home by Sarge’s Girls ~ I’m not sure if there’s anyone in the fandom who hasn’t read Coming Home, the touching story of a teacher who befriends a soldier on the front line, (his fervour for her cookies never fails to make me smile!) but I’ve just read it again and it was even more enjoyable – I love JenRar and Drotuno’s writing!
Summary ~ School teacher Bella sends a care package and letter to Army sergeant Edward, who is stationed in Afghanistan. They begin a relationship through letters, phone calls, and video chats. There’s love, there’s language, and there’s adult situations, plus a strong, independent Bella and the Edward we all know and love. Rated: M – Romance/Friendship – Bella&Edward – Complete
Our thanks to Ced07, Helena, and MsRedBoots for recommending these stories.
Whenever I read a Beegurl13 story, I’m always sucked in by the way she seems to always give us original characters and scenarios definitely worth the read.
Speaking of worth the read… Mary, Marry, Merry Go Round is one of those stories where you go in thinking one thing, and end up being drawn in by something else completely.
Bella is a definite firecracker in this one. Surrounded by some interesting townsfolk, Bella sticks out like a sore thumb. She isn’t like any of them and it becomes clear that getting out is her only option. But how do you escape the only thing you’ve ever known?
In comes Edward—tattooed, sweet and just plain beautiful (of course)—he is a force to be reckoned with. The pull between the two is undeniable and familiar, but will Bella let him lead her out?
Here is an excerpt:
Emmett smiled a big toothy grin at me. “I like you. What’s your name?”
“Ah, Bella. Not Mary Bella or Bella Mary? Somethin’ catchy like that?” he asked.
“No, I’m not that awesome,” I deadpanned back to him. “Why do you ask?” Clearly he’d been in Forks before. How else would he have known about the whole Mary thing? And as I looked at him closer I noticed that he seemed a little familiar.
“Nothin’. Just I noticed a lot of Mary’s around here.”
“Yeah,” Jamie said. “What’s up with that? It’s kinda weird. And why are all the houses the same? It looks like someone took a fuckin’ cookie cutter and made everything identical. Kinda Stepford Wives like, if you ask me.”
“If you’re afraid of Stepford Wives I’d suggest you stay away from the grocery store,” I told him with a smirk. “Ladies shopping for food in their heels and pearls. It’s not normal.”
Like I said before, Forks was eternally stuck in 1973, although sometimes it felt more like it could be a flashback to 1963.
I had a good time reading this story. The dialogue gave me a good chuckle and the setting felt like it could be set in your own home town.
Summary: Bella’s bored in cookie cutter Forks, with an Apple Pie obsessed father, Mary Kay lovin’ mother, and Mary Jane addicted brother. Will she find the courage to escape & get a life? What happens when a tatted, pierced blast from her past sweeps her off her feet? Can Edward show her there’s more than the Mary, Marry, Merry Go Round life she knows? Rated: M – Romance/Humor – Edward & Bella – Complete
In Small Town Hearts by sallyreads, my tingly senses were jumping up and down in delight and calling for an “Amen”, when I first gluttonously ogled Edward through Bella’s sweet eyes.
Extract from chapter two, Welcome to the Dark Side – forever known to me as Welcome to the Dark Side Where Edward has Ice Cream...
It was there, standing in that ice cream line thinking about all the things I hated about Pine Cove, that a flash of copper caught my eye. Pulling myself from my thoughts, I looked past the people in line in front of me to the counter of the booth. Standing there, was a tall boy with hair messier than mine, if possible, smiling at a little girl and her mother as he handed the little girl a cone of strawberry ice cream. From what I could tell, the mother, who looked like Mrs. Cope, the secretary at school, was utterly dazzled by the boy and his heartbreaking smile. Who could blame her? He was gorgeous, excruciatingly beautiful-definitely not from around here-and his smile was dangerous, just begging for us all to come to the dark side. After all, he had ice cream.
But, I’m getting ahead of myself here…a little dazzled by the lovely scene above. Small Town Hearts is set in an itty bitty dot of a place on the state map of North Carolina, from where Bella longs to escape. She lives there with her father, her mother having skipped town when she was little. Now, while I suspect there will be sweet romance in abundance in this story, there’s a definite slightly dark undercurrent, as to date, Bella’s small-town life doesn’t appear to be that of your average carefree teenager.
Mmmh! I wonder what changes to Bella’s world the new boy in town will bring? Come to Pine Cove with me to discover what lies ahead. In case you need more convincing — Edward is serving ice cream!
Summary: Bella Swan has been through it all, including her mother leaving when she was young. As much as she would like to forget about her, the fact that she is her mom’s spitting image makes it difficult. It seems as though everyone has to remind her of that, making her want to escape the small town she calls home, that is, until she meets someone who makes her want to stay. Hurt/Comfort/Romance – Rated: M – Bella & Edward – WIP
Hot off the press is Sweet Damnation by new-to-me author, M.E. Heartland. Edward is 32-years-old, and CEO of a successful social networking site. Bella is 22 and in town for the summer. She knows what she wants: Edward. He knows what he wants: Bella. Well, in that case, this story should be one of straightforward romance – only it’s not! At only one chapter in, we know not only is Bella forbidden fruit to Edward, she is harbouring a dark secret.
As the title suggests, there is sweet damnation in store for Edward and he is flinging himself headlong towards it…
I watched the color blossom across her cheeks as my filthy words registered in her mind, the sexual meaning behind them. I ran my hands up her body. “You my love, you’re my greatest sin, and I’m going to burn.” I whispered huskily against the shell of her ear, I trailed a line of smoldering kisses down her jaw until my mouth aligned with hers. Her touch was scorching; I ran my teeth over her bottom lip – nibbling, causing her to let out a sweet sigh, as she melted against me. Sweet damnation, pink, glittery, silky softness of her angelic mouth. I pulled back to catch my breath, or maybe my sanity. “Lord have mercy on my soul,” I croaked, taking in her stunned, wide doe like eyes.
My interest is piqued and I’m planning to travel in Edward’s wake to discover what lies ahead.
Summary: Edward is used to getting what he wants. He’s one of the founding members and CEO of My-Clique a highly popular social networking website. She’s back – the ultimate forbidden fruit. Isabella has only eight weeks. She wants to experiences as much as she can in that time and loving Edward is at the top of her list. Rated: M – Romance – Bella & Edward – WIP
