Welcome! It has been a busy week here at the International House of FanFic, and we round off the week with some fabulous stories for you to check out. Starting with one of our favourite authors, content1, who has a brand new story that started today – take it away, April!
Isabella Marie Swan,” Jacob said as he sat down behind his desk and held his hand out for the folders I had. “She disappeared when she was five years of age. Her mother is Renee Swan, father’s Charles Swan.”
The name caused me to sit up straighter. Charles “Charlie” Swan was a cop who had brought down a large drug cartel many years ago in Seattle. He and his family had moved to a small town close to the coast not long afterward.
“His wife and daughter were murdered, right?” I asked, remembering the history.
“Presumably,” Jacob replied, using his nail to open the file. “Renee’s body was found in an alleyway. She’d been shot execution style. Isabella, or Bella as she was called, was never found. It was assumed, after many months of looking for her, she’d also been killed and dumped.”
The idea for Mother Father came to me one night as I was working on my original novel with the television blaring Discovery in the background. I saw a commercial for a program where adults, who had been kidnapped as children, discovered their lives had been built on lies. It made me wonder how that person would feel if, against the odds, they’d been raised in loving homes versus the horror most kidnapped children face. Throw in my love for all the Twilight characters and the band Journey . . . and a plot bunny was born.
An all human story, the characters are slightly OCC, but retain the qualities we love from Mrs. Meyer’s originals. This Bella is self-assured, but devastated when her world is destroyed by violence. Despite it all, the attraction between her and Edward is immediate (go figure).
Green eyes, so vivid that they were piercing, stared down at me. His hair was a color I couldn’t quite define: brown, red, and gold in a mixture. Copper, I realized. It was the color of a brand new penny. Cut short on the sides, with the top slightly longer, it framed his angular face perfectly. Slightly heavy eyebrows, high cheekbones, and those lips. Combined it was as if a master sculptor had decided to create the face of Lucifer.
Giving myself a mental shake as he released me, I realized he must be someone’s brother, because he looked a little too old to be a freshman.
Damn . . . what I wouldn’t have given to have him here in the dorm. My years of pampered incarceration made the hormones run a little wild. Okay, a lot. I missed the heat I could feel between us as soon as he released me. He was smirking at me, and it made me realize I’d been gawking. Nice way to make a spectacle of yourself Isabella.
“Um . . . I’m so sorry. I’m like the biggest klutz. I didn’t mean to barrel into you.”
I watched in fascination as his eyes widened at my accent. I could speak perfect English, but no matter how hard I tried, it was always flavored by the accent of my home.
“I’m Isabella. Isabella Rossi.” I held out my hand, wanting . . . needing him to touch me again.
Edward is more of a flirt, a man who loves life and takes his job seriously. He’s thrown by his attraction to Bella as he attempts to remain professional.
Jake snickered before he added. “Cullen, grow your hair out. You look too GQ with the shave. Jasper . . . I don’t even know, cultivate hippie. Your new IDs and pertinent data are in here.” He laid two sealed envelopes before them. “I suggest you watch 21 Jump Street or something to learn how to be cool.”
“That’s high school, boss,” Jasper said in a strangled voice. “For college it would be 22.”
Whatever indeed, I thought staring at the gorgeous woman laughing in the pictures.
I had a bad feeling about this case.
Add in all the other beloved Twilight characters and Mother Father follows Edward and Bella as they go into hiding in an attempt to save Bella’s life against those who would destroy her.
April aka content1
Summary: Raised by adoring parents, Isabella Rossi discovers, after tragedy strikes, not all is as it seems. She must trust FBI agent, Edward Cullen, to keep her alive as she learns who Bella Swan is, to whom loyalty lies, and with whom she can trust her heart. FBIWard – Rated M – All human- Suspense – Bella/Edward – WIP
First of all, let me start out by saying that Symphony of Bad Notes by b.krumova has me all wound up! When I see the update in my inbox, immediately I find a corner or even go so far as to pull over the car just to read the update. Then I’m struck with fear, terrified with what I’m about to read it! That’s when you know you have found a good angst story. Bella is a sweet, pure and naive girl. Edward, on the other hand, is possessive, demanding, he goes after what he wants and makes no apologies for it. He also seems to have a separate life away from Bella, what that life entails we have yet to find out. Within each chapter you will find clues that slowly help you piece together the puzzle of the story. You would think that those would be helpful in understanding, but on the contrary, you still have no idea what’s going on!
So once I finish the chapter, holding my heart, head filled with a million questions, Twitter DM’s back and forth to Lfcpam trying to understand it all… I come to this realization. Wherever the story goes, it’s going to hurt, it’s going to thrill me, it might even break my heart…but it will never for one moment ever be boring.
Summary: When Isabella Swan walked out of the door seven years ago, she promised that she would only see Edward Cullen as he was laid to rest. Fate had other plans… Rated M for violence, sexual scenes and language. AH – OOC – Drama/Angst – Bella/Edward – WIP
It all starts when Bella, frustrated in more ways than one, chucks her ice scraper at a passing snow plow.
The only thing more surprising than the fact that she actually hit her intended target, is when flannel-wearing, bearded driver with vaguely familiar eyes gets out to confront her.
I believe this belongs to you?” He’s close enough now to hold the long scraper out to me, but he keeps closing in on me. His voice is gruff, and I take another step backward, my ass meeting the trunk of Ben’s snow-covered car.
“I’m… sorry.” I’m lost for a second in his eyes. Framed by thick, dark lashes, they narrow slightly as he scratches at the scruff on his face and clears his throat, breaking my daze. “No, wait. I’m not fucking sorry. I need to get to work, and your stupid plow just buried my car under eight thousand feet of snow.”
What I love about Plowed is that this Bella is smart and confident, but she’s also vulnerable, just like the rest of us. She is quick, and witty and the sexy banter between her and Edward will make you giggle and squirm, often at the same time.
In this story, Edward is the one that doesn’t see himself clearly. He can be gruff and moody, but he’s also incredibly sweet.
As the pre-reader, I saw these moments and events and lines of dialogue that I was certain that would not work with any other ExB, yet they were perfect for this Edward and Bella. And that may be what I love the most about Plowed.
But perhaps the greatest testament to Plowed, is that I’m completely over the fact that Geeky didn’t go with my suggested summary, “First he plowed her street, then he plowed her.’” 😉
Summary: On a dreary Monday morning, he plowed right in to her life. Will she see him for who he is and let him in? Rated M – Romance – Bella/Edward – Complete
I think all fellow FanFic addicts would agree different things attract to you a story, sometimes it is the summary that speaks to you, or maybe it is what you have heard from fellow readers. In this instance, I was captured by the title on Bled Dry’s If This, Then.
If the title drew me in, the prologue had me hooked. Stories where you see ‘then’ and ‘now’ are my weakness and on top of that – the ‘then’ is in high school and I do love a high school fic!
Talking of weaknesses, it seems that Bella in If This, Then has one too: Edward. From the prologue you know that Bella and Edward have a long history, but as yet we only know a little and I am itching to know more. The writing in this story is spectacular and Bled Dry creates an atmosphere so real that you feel like you are there with Bella. It’s just so good.
Do yourselves a favour, dear readers, and check it out, you won’t regret it!
Summary: If you have chemistry, you only need one other thing: timing. But timing is a bitch. Rated: M – Angst/Romance – WIP

Summary: “In the event of my death, Isabella Marie Swan, upon previous agreement, is to step in and assist Edward Anthony Cullen in the caring of the child, necessitating her to stay at the Cullen residence in which the child lives for six months.” When tragedy strikes, a last wish forces Edward and Bella together to deal with their pain, heal and rebuild the lives they lost. Thank you so much to Allie, Mrs E Cullen and Sarah for sharing their reading loves today. Fabulous choices, Ladies!! PS: Mrs E Cullen, we are jealous! Unless you are Emmett’s wife *grins*
Today, we wanted to do something a little different. As our regular readers know, we normally recommend stories in their own right, but today – while we are whole-heartedly recommending Hot Commodity for you all to run and read (Playboyward For the Win!) – it is actually the author, blueeyedcherry we are sharing the love for today.
blueeyedcherry, apart from writing amazing stories herself, also betas (you might remember her wonderful reviews she has done for us for ThisisReallyHappening’s stories) and she is one of the loveliest people we have had the pleasure of working with here at the International House of FanFic. She is always so generous with her time, and the passion she shares when writing about the stories she betas just makes you want to drop everything and read. She is a true gem of the Fandom.
So, please – we recommend her stories to you wholeheartedly – this FicSister is working her way through her catalogue of works, and I can’t wait to read more! For those of you who, like me, adore a good one shot, I highly recommend her story Someone Like You – it’s just lovely.
Summary: Edward Cullen is used to getting everything he wants. Good looking, wealthy, and charming, NYC’s most reputable playboy doesn’t take “no” for an answer. Then he meets Isabella Swan and all bets are off … Except for one. *AH/OOC* Rated M – Romance-Humour – Bella/Edward – Complete
