Welcome, dear readers to another post packed with December Delights! We’ve got so much to share, we hardly know where to begin… So, moving swiftly onto another week of seriously good stories – the uber-talented Shay Savage starts us off!
It is no secret, the FicSisters are all huge Shay Savage fans. Shay is one busy lady, not only does she have a fabulous new book out this week called “Alarm” – she also recently released a collection of short, erotic stories called “Savaged”. We were delighted to chat with Shay earlier this week about…well, a bit of everything, really!!
First of all, we have to congratulate you on the success of your books, particularly Transcendence, which hit the USA Today Best Sellers list in November. Come on, share with us – did you do a fist pump when you heard that?
I think I might have screamed. LOL! I know I was giddy for hours after I saw it. I technically listed as an author with Bend, but with so many fantastic authors involved in that, we couldn’t go wrong. Making it on my own was definitely a different feeling. I’ve always said I’m not in this business to make a list, and that’s still true, but it was really exciting.
You have written some amazing stories with even more amazing characters, can you share with us your personal favourite story and character and why they are at the top of your list?
Otherwise Occupied is my personal favorite (though Alarm is a close second). I think it’s some of my tightest writing and full of emotion. Evan Arden is definitely my favorite character. He’s so totally and irrevocably broken. What he goes through just tears you up, and I’m all in this for the emotion.
More often than not, your stories are told from the male protagonist’s point of view – how do you do that so seamlessly? Is there a reason you tend to write in the male POV?
I identify with men a lot easier than I do with women. Most of my friends are men, and I tend to gravitate toward more traditionally male-dominated activities. I probably think like a man. Ha! It seems to me that the vast majority of erotic fiction is written from the woman’s perspective, so this gives me a bit of an edge in the field. It makes my stories a little different, and variety is good.
Can you share with us how you discovered FanFic and which story did you ‘pop your cherry’ with?
I started doing the FanFic thing back in the 80’s when no one called it that. I’d write about the members of bands I liked, TV shows, movies – whatever. The first official FanFic I wrote and put out on the internet was Star Wars/Darth Maul fics. I still love that character to death. From that I moved into Twilight, which has an incredibly huge fan base. The feedback I got from that group has changed my life quite literally.
As far as the first FanFic I read, I really couldn’t tell you. I’ve read and loved too many.
We can’t wait for your new book, Alarm, which was released December 8. Can you share with us what we can expect from this new book? The cover looks amazing! *drooling a little*
Oh most definitely! It’s actually done from the heroine’s point of view, and I’m really happy with it. I hope others will enjoy it too. It’s about Chloe, a very straight-edge woman who has always stuck with the normal and safe. While intoxicated, she meets Aiden Hunter – a tall, muscled, tattooed Adonis – and she doesn’t know what to do with herself. Bad boys not her type, and she is baffled by her attraction to him.
Aiden’s character is loosely based on my favorite bartender. He’s the tattooed hottie on the cover.
Here’s the part where she first runs into him – quite literally!
Still giggling, I used one of the fallen towels to open the door, balled it up, and tried to hold the door open with my backside while simultaneously tossing the paper into the trashcan near the sink. The force of the throw was apparently too much, and I stumbled out the door and into a brick wall.
It was pretty warm for brick and not nearly as painful on my back as I would have thought it would be. I leaned back against it some more and sighed. The dizziness returned, and I nearly fell forward. That’s when the brick wall grew hands and arms, which wrapped around me and kept me from falling on my ass.
Still dizzy, I turned to find the brick wall was wearing a grey, cut-off muscle shirt, which did nothing to hide the graffiti-like tattoos all over the arms that held me steady as I tried to get my bearings.
Where am I?
Oh yes…Thirsty’s, outside the bathroom.
I looked forward and focused my eyes on the chest in front of me. I had to tilt my head up to discover it was, in fact, not attached to a brick wall but an actual face that was way, way up in the air.
The guy was massive. Just massive. He was well over six feet tall with shoulders that took up nearly the whole width of the hallway.
“Hi there,” the brick wall said in a deep, jocular voice. “You all right?”
It’s not that Thirsty’s was known for a lot of riff-raff or criminal activity of any kind. It wasn’t. I never would have walked into the place if it were like that. It was a typical sports bar in the suburbs of southwestern Ohio, mostly catering to the pro football crowd whenever the Bengals played the Steelers. The usual clientele were locals blowing off steam from work or commiserating about their failed marriages. Occasionally, there were a few singles looking to hook up. Most of the people I saw there I had seen before, even if I didn’t know them.
This guy did not belong here.
Wherever they keep the official entries for men your mother warned you about, this guy’s picture would be at the top of the list.
His arms and chest bulged with muscles. He really did resemble a brick wall. I could see the outline of his abs through his shirt, stacked like the bricks around a fireplace. Every visible inch of his darkly tanned skin was completely covered by a myriad of tattoos. I couldn’t focus on any one image without all of them blending together like the mosaic of a swiftly moving, graffiti-covered train car. His nearly black hair was the same length as the neatly trimmed beard covering his face, and dark eyebrows framed his greenish-brown eyes.
Maybe I was feeling a little of that southern haughtiness my grandmother was known for displaying whenever we walked through a Walmart when I was a child. Maybe I was going so far as to profile the guy for his height, insane number of tattoos, ripped jeans, muscle shirt, and assumption that he had a Harley parked somewhere outside. Maybe I was just in shock from the abrupt encounter itself.
Aside from all of that, he was absolutely gorgeous.
Maybe I’m just drunk.
So, enquiring, nosy-parkers want to know, what is next on the Shay Savage radar?
I’d love to have someone tell me, actually! I have so many works in progress, I’m not completely sure what I’m going to work on next. I can say for sure that there will be more Evan Arden stories next year, starting with how he gets out of his situation at the end of Bastian’s Storm and likely a book or two of what happens next in his life. If you’ve enjoyed his torment thus far, you’re going to love it.
Thanks so much for talking with me today! I’ve really enjoyed it!

Look at this for an exciting A/N: “JonesnInDaHood’s back. Tell a friend.” Telling a few thousand is even better! So we are… Operation Santa’s Elves is a quirky, fun drabble, from the delightful duo of Jonesn and Hoodfabulous, designed to entertain us until the year-end. This seasonal tale is inspired by a video they found on FB showing two policemen delivering gifts to a well-deserving family at Christmastime. It touched their hearts, and they hope their story will touch yours.
And, as if that’s not a good enough reason to start this hilarious fic today, a caring, fun-loving, green-tight-clad Edward is one of the cops! Convinced? We are!
Summary: When local cop Edward Cullen breaks into Bella Swan’s house to stuff her stockings, he gets more than he bargained for. A Christmas TwiFic Drabble dedicated to our readers. Humor –Romance – Rated: M – Bella & Edward – Complete
In just one chapter TGB McCray’s Finding Home had our hearts aching. With those few words we were sad that Edward, despite his pleading, is left alone in a dry, hot field …a promise ring not enough to hold her with him.
“Don’t take it.” I blinked, but “Don’t take it,” was what he said, and then, and he was choking, “Christ, girl. Don’t go. You can’t go.
We already loathed her mama…the “conniving” (according to Edward) witch (according to us!).
But, we’re hopeful. Why? Because this is a Christmas story; a time for hope, miracles and forgiveness.
We’re waiting to find out just who she is, and what becomes of them. But with a sprinkle of Christmas magic we’re hoping our dreams, and Edward’s, come true…
Summary: From a ranch in Oklahoma to the heart of Los Angeles, they move on but hang on. Love is a person, not a place, but geography sure can much things up. Will a Christmas visit mean a second chance or the final goodbye to the only home she’s ever known? Angst/Romance – Rated: M – WiP
Do Over by Tkegl is a tale of romance with tones of It’s A Wonderful Life.
Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! How could it be anything else?
We meet Edward in a bar on Christmas Eve hiding from reality and drowning his sorrows; this has become tradition ever since he broke up with Bella ten years earlier. Later, he plays the Good Samaritan to a stranger in an alley and returns to the bar with him; A Wonderful Life plays on the television in the background, while they carry on a strange and life changing conversation.
So begins Edward’s chance at a do over. This story is not about correcting mistakes, but learning from them. Will Edward learn and take his second chance or will he make the same mistakes again?
Summary: Every Christmas Eve, Edward Cullen sits in a bar and regrets the decision he made ten years earlier that tore Bella from him. But when he gets a second chance to right that wrong, it’s not quite what he expected. Romance – Rated: M – Edward & Bella – Complete
T.m. Franklin has kindly made Do Over available to download in MOBI, EPUB or PDF format here.
If you believe this is a magical time of year, then this old-fashioned magical tale from ericastwilight is for you. The Christmas Book is a short sweet fic, perfect to read in one sitting.
The back-story to young, adorable Alyssa is sad, but overall there is a heart-warming nature and a feel-good factor to this unique story. Edward is just as adorable himself in how he cares for Alyssa, and it’s his simple decision to bribe her with a book that leads to healing for both of them. We say both of them, but really this lovely Bella, the bookstore owner, is in as much need of some healing magic as the Alyssa and Edward.
This beautifully written poignant story may lead you to shed a tear, but it will also make you widely. Go on – give The Christmas Book a chance to work it’s magic on you too.
Summary: After the loss of his best friends, Edward is responsible for their little girl. Unable to get the child to open up, he takes her to a bookstore. Inside, he finds a loving young woman, hurting from past regrets and the owner of a magical book. Hurt/Comfort/Romance – Rated: T – Edward & Bella – Complete
In A Christmas Restoration by A Cullen Wannabe, Bella is a New York Times bestselling author facing her first Christmas as a divorcee and without her children. Just when she needs him most, Edward, a handsome National Park Ranger comes to her rescue. Ah, that’s so true in more than one sense. Sigh!
This is a heartwarming tale of love and family with a real feel-good factor even if Edward becomes a little sappy – “To quote a cheesy Tom Cruise movie, you complete me. I thought that line was so pathetic, but now I understand, Bella.”
Summary: When single Mom, Bella, took her children to Colorado for their visitation with their father, she never dreamed she would find something unexpected in a winter storm. Can Edward heal Bella’s wounds and restore her faith in men, love, and herself? Hurt/Comfort/Romance – Rated: M – Bella & Edward – Complete
The Red Coats is the perfect tale for this time of year, it has a bit of everything, a dash of angst, a splash of tension, a drop of attraction and a whole lot of holiday magic. Edward is a jaded detective who hates the holidays (with a good reason). Bella loves Christmas and revels in celebrating (also with good reason). When these two meet, its fire and ice. We loved every moment. Enjoy!
Summary: She loves the holidays. He loathes them. As new neighbors, they have to learn to tolerate each other. The problem for Edward is that she’s irresistible in red. Can she bring the Grinch around in time to save him from a lonely New Year? Romance – Rated: M – Bella & Edward – Complete
There’s a reason Merry Textmas by DH78 was Voter’s Choice Winner in the Naughty & Nice Holiday Contest: it’s hilarious, sweet and romantic!
It‘s now complete at five fabulous chapters as these two Texters had a little more to say. After reading their tale, the next time you receive a text from an unknown number, will you respond? Remember…it might be from Edward.
Summary: Bella is forced to tackle the crowds on Black Friday with her best friend, Angela. Can a random text message from a wrong number change the course of her day and her life? Banter galore! Romance/Humor – Rated: M – Edward & Bella – Complete
What can we say about It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, by staceleo? Well, it’s a really fun, smutty holiday story, packed with festive cheer, and guaranteed to make you giggle.
staceleo has the uncanny ability to make waking up the morning after the-night-before – next to an Edwin/Eric/Egon/Edgar…something beginning with ‘E ‘– a scenario to make you smile. Her whacky, larger-than-life characters are guaranteed to have you diving for the daily updates quicker than Edward can unhook a bra!
Summary: Love comes to Miss Swan unexpectedly during the holidays. Romance/Humor – Rated: M – Bella & Edward – WiP
Thank you FicSisters for having me on the blog today to talk about Served Cold.
To make a long (and I mean really long) story short, I got the idea for Served Cold because I wanted to write a devious Bella. Since the story ended up playing out from Edward’s POV I didn’t get to delve into it as much as I wanted, but for those who did read it, you can kind of see that the idea was ‘Poison Ivy-ish. And by that I mean the movie—not the plant! Lol.
I wanted to try a Bella who was more the seductress and went after Edward to make a point (in this case revenge) and an Edward who was a little less confident but didn’t necessarily wear that on his sleeves.
The idea also came when I wanted to write a relationship that would be considered Forbidden. I guess this is where the long story short kind of takes a back seat, but they did have a closer bond in some of the earlier versions. That’s all I’ll say for now in case I wanna do some outtakes later 😉
For the story itself, I think (and hope) my readers will like it because the storyline is different for me. The majority of my stories lend toward a fluffier, and straight forward style. There’s more of push and pull this time. A chase. And, well, a slight illicit affair.
With that I’ll leave you ladies with one of my absolute favourite scenes. It happens the morning after E/B first sleep together and Bella shows some of her true colors—blind siding Edward.
I was barely listening, until Bella spoke up and said, “I’m going shopping. Uncle Edward said he would take me.”
I nearly spit out my juice and whipped my head around, narrowing my eyes at her. “I did?”
“Yeah.” Bella smirked. “Last night remember?”
Summary: Edward thought the trip to Hawaii was a way to reconcile with his ex-wife; get to know her family. But when a past betrayal comes to light, he decides it may be time to dish up a little payback. Little does he know, her goddaughter—who’s harbored a grudge for the better part of a decade—feels the same. And you know how revenge is best served. Romance/Drama – Olderward – Rated: M – Bella & Edward – Complete
Have you ever traveled to another city and imagined a story developing all around you? With the setting in place, you began to wonder what the characters’ dreams and faults are. What’s their story?
This story originated while Miss Baby spent time in New York city and the surrounding coastal states. As she strolled through Central Park, the inspiration for Breakfast in the Dunes was born.
When Miss Baby visited the Bronx Zoo, Bella was right by her side. She saw her working as a nanny the summer before starting college, living in the Hamptons with his father’s best friend and wife. During their outing to the zoo, she noticed Bella wasn’t very happy that Edward had pushed his way into her day out with his sister’s kids.
Then, while touring Columbia University, she saw a very confident Bella striving to achieve her lifelong goals, and challenging all those around her to try to stop her from reaching them.
Here’s a little tease from our jailbird and his little mousy from chapter 9 of Breakfast in the Dunes:
“What are you doing here?” she asked, wishing immediately her voice hadn’t come off as abrasive as it had. Knowing him, he would probably see her gruffness as a challenge.
“I’m hurt, mousy!” he cried in mock indignation, his shoes slipping on the sand as he worked his way down into ‘her’ dip. “Here I am, scouring half the seaside for a nice place to sit and watch the tide roll in, only to be chased away the moment I find the perfect spot.”
“You can’t even see the ocean from here,” Bella grumbled, the benefits of rising early vanished like snow before the sun. “Now go along and watch the ocean from the deck or something. This spot is already taken.”
His smirk was insufferable, making Bella’s hackles rise like the needles on a porcupine as he leaned in, his face almost within striking distance. “Is it, little mousy? That’s funny, because I don’t see your name on it.”
Grabbing a little stick of wood, Bella narrowed her eyes as she leaned over the edge of the blanket, drawing her name into the sand in big, swirly letters. “And now it is.”
These two have quite a ways to go, but I can promise you that Miss Baby will not be disappoint you at the end of this journey!
Summary: They were the most unlikely two people to fall in love; one a driven student on the brink to greatness, the other a jaded rock star on the road to ruin. But when hopes, dreams and the New York State Division of Parole force them together, fate takes over and hate soon grows into a different sort of passion. Romance/Drama – Rated: M – WiP

Summary – Successful musician Edward Cullen could have any woman he wants. But there’s only one he can’t stop thinking about and she seems oblivious to his feelings. Could a Christmas wish change everything for both of them? – Romance/Drama – Rated: M – Edward & Bella – O/S
All I Want For Christms is a sweet and hot, seasonal story from KitsuShel.
It’s Christmas Eve and Bella finds herself alone and lonely. She does not want to spend another Christmas alone with her dreams of her attractive co-worker Edward as her only companionship, no matter how good they are.
Perhaps things are about to improve for Bella, maybe her wish will be granted, as there is a certain someone who wants to spend Christmas and more with her. All he needs to do is man up and tell her how he feels. Though, we don’t know how Bella is expected to take Edward seriously while he wears a light-up Christmas jumper knitted by his grandmother! Taking it off him might be a good move! *giggle*

Finally… Every week we sign off with thanks to the talented authors and loyal readers, and it’s genuine, sharing our love of fic with all of you means so much to us. Really. ❤️
Although The International House of Fan Fic has only been live since January this year, all of the FicSisters have been in and around the fandom since “the early days”. In various guises we’ve recommended, reviewed, and championed fics and authors. In deciding to come together here we chose to let the site, authors and community lead the way, and try to remain in the background.
So, although together we’ve been here for at least 107 years, 😉 we’re very touched that lots of you voted for the site in the Twific Fandom Awards…we placed third…when most of you don’t even know who we are! Thank you for your kindness; thank you for your loyalty; thank you for the thousands of visits to our home, every day. You’re all most welcome here.
Our love and thanks this week go to our lovely guests, Shay Savage, Lolo84 and ladysharkey1. We’re delighted you were able to join us!
